REALTORS: 5 Ways to Up Your Facebook Popularity

Many real estate professionals leverage Facebook for keeping in touch with clients. It’s no wonder why: Facebook has more than 1 billion daily active users. But with so many posts competing for your network’s attention, how do you get them to notice you and engage with you more? Forbes.com columnist Mike Templeman recently offered up several ideas, including: Share more content: Gather and share the best content related to your industry from other sources. “Content curation positions you as an expert and resourceful brand in your industry,” Templeman writes. Know when to post: Identify the ideal time to post on Facebook to maximize engagement. Research from Hootsuite suggests that posting between 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. is best if you want the highest number of click-throughs and 3 p.m. is tops for posting if you want the highest number of shares. But it’s more important to know your network’s habits than national averages. Check out your analytics through Facebook’s social media management tool. Pass along videos: Videos boast a 135 percent greater organic reach compared to images. “Not only does adding videos into your social media strategy increase engagement, but it’s also super easy to upload videos,” Templeman notes. Also, try to create your own real estate-related videos. Facebook tends to favor organic videos – those uploaded directly from your device versus YouTube, for example. Use standalone graphics: Have graphics or images that provide useful content without the need to link back to your site. “You’re providing helpful tidbits or perhaps sharing quotes from well-known leaders in your niche,” Templeman notes. “Plan to have a variety of posts that includes links and standalone graphics. Test to see which resonates best with your audience.” Start a Facebook group: Use Groups to stay connected to your audience. You can use the group to share your best blog posts and curated content. You can use it to answer real estate-related questions and gather feedback as well while keeping your network engaged.
